Cobb's Quay Marina
Value: £750,000
Client: Marina Developments Ltd.
Out of water ‘dry’ storage is becoming an increasingly popular solution amongst owners of RIBS and motorboats. Marina Developments Ltd. (MDL) decided to double the capacity of their dry stack facility at Cobb’s Quay to over 200 boats, in
readiness for the summer season. As part of the project an old sea wall that had rusted away needed to be replaced, before work on the storage racks could begin.
G&H have extensive ‘waterside’ construction experience and were able to demonstrate all the necessary in-house expertise to deliver the piling, groundworks and installation of the racking system.
The initial survey revealed poor ground conditions on the site where the new 50 metres sea wall was to be built. G&H overcame these problems through the use of a formworks system to cap the piling, and a 2000sq metres concrete slab to carry the racking system was then laid on a concrete foundation raft. Each four storey rack was positioned and fixed in place ready for G&H’s own joinery to add the timber baulks for each boat to rest on.
G&H’s expertise in dealing with the challenging ground conditions meant that the project was still completed on time and budget. As a result MDL had their dry stack storage system in place and producing revenue in good time for the summer season.
