Aranlaw House Care Home
Value: £1.8 million
Client: Gunputh Associates
When government legislation required a significant upgrading of facilities of this Westbourne Care Home, the owners decided to demolish the existing building and rebuild a 47 bedroom home on the same site. With tight building lines, a nursing home and private residential housing in close proximity; managing disruption to passers-by and local residents was crucial.
With a record of maximising value for money in this sector, and a ‘one stop shop’ capability from design to joinery, G&H were awarded the design and build contract after an open competition.
Following demolition of the original building, a traditionally built brick and block rendered threestorey building was constructed under a ched, tiled roof. A new electricity sub-station and services including two lifts and air conditioning were built and installed.
The finished building was delivered to the owners to schedule and ready for occupation. Due to the timely addition of the bay windows, all rooms now satisfy the new regulations and the home is able to trade at full capacity.
